Cardiff Rivers Group are encouraging Cardiff residents to get involved in the Great Taff Tidy.
The event takes place from the 3rd – 5th September and aims to clean up the whole river from the Breacons to the Cardiff.
Keep Wales Tidy’s Projects Director, Louise Tambini said, “The Great Taff Tidy is a fantastic opportunity to improve the appearance of the River Taff in one big hit. Now that the water quality is good, it is the litter hanging from the bankside vegetation that detracts from the River’s beauty.
“It would be great if we could have groups along the River’s entire length all working together – the difference we could make would be astounding! Keep Wales Tidy is making a plea to anyone who enjoys walking or cycling along the Taff, or those who fish or canoe on its waters to come forward and join in this mammoth effort.”

The Cardiff Rivers Group recently went on a clean up day but had a shock when they hardly anything to tidy up.
18 volunteers turned up at Forest Farm to collect litter from the Taff Trail and the river, but after an hour of litter picking there was nothing left.
Tambini said: “It was lovely to see that this section of the Taff Trail was relatively litter-free. It goes to show that locals appreciate this area and look after it. As so many volunteers turned up, we easily cleared over a mile of trail today which demonstrates that many hands do indeed make light work!”
Anyone with a boat, wetsuit or diving equipment is especially welcome to join in the tidy up.
