South Wales Police made five arrests last weekend as part of their anti-social behaviour crackdown Operation Newport.

Sergeant Chris Fennessey said: “Operation Newport will be running until October 31 and during this period I would urge parents to check where their children are at night and remind them to behave responsibly.

“As part of this operation, CCTV has recently been installed outside shops in Burnham Avenue, Llanrumney, to further reassure the community and deter bad behaviour.

“We are working closely with local schools who have reassured us that they will also be taking robust action against those identified as being responsible for any criminal damage, assaults or anti social behaviour.”

A 15-year-old has been arrested and bailed to appear in court on 18th October for assault and criminal damage in Burnham Avenue.

A 15-year-old was arrested on 15th October for theft and public order in Caeglas Road, he was bailed to appear in court on 21st October.

A 14-year-old was arrested on Friday 15th October for public order offence on Greenway Road, Rumney.

A 17-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested on Sunday 17th October for public order offences in Cathcob Close, St Mellons.
