New appeal as police hunt Cathays sex attacker

Police hunting a man in connection with a sexual assault in Cathays have launched a fresh appeal for information.

Detectives are investigating the attack on a 20-year-old woman who was walking home from a night out in the city centre in the early hours of Sunday 26th September.

The incident happened in Cathays Terrace and footage of the man walking with the victim through the Cathays area has been captured on CCTV.

Detective Inspector Tudor Thomas, from Roath and Cathays CID, said: “Despite extensive enquiries by detectives and a press appeal the man in the CCTV has not yet been identified.

“We are continuing to investigate this serious incident and would appeal for anyone with information to contact us no matter how insignificant it might seem.

“This incident left the young woman extremely upset and describes it as the worst thing that has ever happened to her.”

South Wales Police believe the man may be from outside Cardiff, possibly the South Wales Valleys or surrounding areas.
