After the success of the Rhiwbina Summer Festival, Rhiwbina Events Committee turn their attention to the Victorian Evening and Christmas.
The traditional festive evening starts at 4pm on Tuesday 7th December to usher in Christmas into the village. The Victoria-themed will include musical entertainment, children’s rides, craft stalls and street traders, mulled wine hot soup, and festive performances from local groups in the main arena.
Squidgy Squirrel, from Rhiwbina Living magazine, will once again be the Guest of Honour to turn on the Christmas Tree Lights at 5pm. The tree has once again become the focal point of the village shops, after the Rhiwbina Events Committee restored the tradition last year. Squidgy will turn on the tree lights along with Jess Thomas, who was the winner of the Summer Festival’s colouring competition.
From Wednesday 1st of December, locals can drop off a present to Morgan Lloyd Williams estate agents on Heol y Deri. This present will be donated to a child in Cardiff Women’s Aid refuge. Presents need to be wrapped and clearly labelled with ‘Boy’ or ‘Girl’, along with the appropriate age range.
Children can also visit Santa, who will also be paying a visit to the village throughout the evening. He will be setting up a grotto in New Roots Garden Centre on Beulah Road.
