Free health courses are being offered in the Splott and Adamsdown areas of the city.

The free NHS self-management courses are for people living with health problems.

It will be held in East Moors Community Education Centre, Sanquhar Street starting Wednesday 23 February.

The course is from 10am to 12.30pm , for six weeks. The free course has already been postponed twice due to low numbers.

“We know there are people in Splott with health problems we just need to let them know this free NHS service is available to them. Many people have found this course helpful. If we can’t fill this course we will have to cancel,” said Carol Young, one of the programme co-ordinators.

Mrs Young explained that the course looks at ways of dealing with the problems faced everyday by those living with a long-term health condition.

She added: “Working in a group enables people to share solutions to problems and find answers together. It makes people realise they are not alone and there are many useful skills and techniques that can be learned to improve the quality of life.”
