Half-term will be a jam packed week for those living around Splott, Tremorfa and Pengam Green area, thanks to the local Communities First team and partners.

On February 20, there is a bike safety awareness event with the local neighbourhood policing team, a Dr Bike session, BMX riders, and a barbecue.

Tuesday, February 22 Eastmoors Youth Centre will be holding a three hour taster event to promote the centre and showcase the work done by the young people and the youth workers.

Keen gardeners should get down to the community allotment in Pengam Green on February 23 where the team will be building raised flower beds, paint plant pots and begin to construct a greenhouse out of plastic bottles.

Thursday, February 24, Eastmoors youth workers will be holding a games night at Splott Play Centre and on Friday the centre will host fun hour in Splott Pool, a circus skills workshop, another Dr Bike session and much more.

So Communities First [council service] has worked with the schools [council service] and Eastmoors [council service] to arrange some events in the area for Half term at a council building.
After FIVE years you would be mistaken to think that Communities First would by now be working with the entire community and fantastic amount of independent recreational and leisure facilities in the area.
How can the youth be encouraged to build on their individual and the community strengths, develop themselves, respect inclusion and all aspects of the community, if what is supposed to be a lead organisation pro-actively appears to work against large sections of the community by what appears to be conscious exclusion as they are not Council Services.
