The first museum dedicated to the capital’s history has racked up more than 5,000 visitors in its first week.

The Cardiff Story museum, based in the Old Library on The Hayes, opened to the public earlier this month after five years of planning.

Museum officer Victoria Rogers said: “To have more than 5,000 people come through the doors in our first week is fantastic. We’ve received some really positive feedback from visitors.”

The museum is based in the Old Library which will also be playing host to the BigLittleCity project.

The exhibition celebrating the city’s creative talent will begin in Cardiff this week.

BigLittleCity will explore photography, film, writing, music, animation, illustration and painting. Photographer Dan Green said: “We put a call out for artists to submit work that reflected their city and we were overwhelmed by the response.”

The exhibition is upstairs in the Old Library building on the Hayes from April 14 to July 22.
