Doughnut fever hit Cardiff this morning as dozens of people queued for the opening of the world’s most famous doughnut maker’s latest shop – one couple even camped over night.
Watch our very own Gareth Rogers decided to see if the Krispy Kreme really lived up to the doughnut hype
Ben Esterson and his partner, were so desperate to be the first in line to sample the pastries from Krispy Kreme’s new St David’s store that they spent the night in a tent outside the front doors.
Mr Esterson, a rock climbing instructor, said: “I do have a life, honestly. I have multiple jobs but this is something which I’ve been doing for a while.”

The 32-year-old, who lives in London, has made it a hobby of his to tour the UK for the opening of new Krispy Kreme stores.
Last week he was up in Liverpool for the city’s store’s first day and before that he travelled to Bristol.
“I’ve been here since 4pm yesterday, if you want to be first you can’t risk it. When I went to Bristol at 11.30pm the night before there were already 12 people in the queue.”
He said being first in the queue was the only way to guarantee receiving a Krispy Kreme Gold Card – which entitles him to a year’s free supply of doughnuts.
Dhana Caple, 38, from Llantrisant, was only a few places behind Mr Esterson. She had been queuing since 6.45am.
“I love the doughnuts, they’re fabulous,” she said, “I wouldn’t queue over night though as otherwise I’d never make it to work.”
