A car believed to have been used in a distraction burglary in Roath has been found by police.
The green Vauxhall Vectra was found on Friday morning in Llandudno Road, Rumney and is now being analysed by forensic teams.
Police are hunting three men who stole cash and jewellery from the home of a 62-year-old woman in Cyfartha Street, Roath at around 10.40pm last Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Ceri Hughes from Roath CID said: “This is a significant development in our investigation.
“Our focus is very much on identifying where this car is from, who has been driving it recently, and who left it in Llandudno Road.
“I would ask anyone with information to contact us immediately.”
DI Hughes also revealed 40 minutes earlier on Wednesday night three men were seen acting suspiciously in a light coloured Vauxhall outside a property in Bargoed Street, Grangetown.
He said: “We are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are linked but there are similarities in terms of the men and the car they were driving.”
Police last week released an e-fit image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the burglaries.
The three men are described as white, one as stock with an Irish accent and another being skinny with fair hair.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Roath CID on 029 2052 7262 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
