ELECTION 2012: Who will you vote for?

May 1, 2012 14 Comments »

After weeks of campaigning, Cardiff goes to the polls in the local elections on Thursday.

There’s been a lot of talk from the city’s political leaders about what they would do should they wake up on May 4 in charge of the city council.

But many voters say they feel disillusioned with local politics, and may not even bother voting at all.

What are you planning to do on May 3?

Conservative in Whitchurch and Ton. Labour candidates don't even live in the ward unlike the Tory candidates so how can they represent us locally when they dont live here? Also the Tory councillors here are very good. I think in areas such as Tongwynlais, Whitchurch, Lisvane, Radyr, Llanishen and Pentyrch the Tory vote is going to hold up very well, as the Tory councillors in these areas are well liked but outside of these main Tory voting areas, the Tory vote is going to be very low. I wouldn't vote Tory in a General Election if it was held this week but no one else deserves my vote in these local elections and this is a LOCAL election, not a vote on the Westminister government… no matter what Labour says. There is Conservative signs up everywhere in these areas anyway.

I am voting Lib Dem as i have met my local candidate and she had no idea on any of the local issues and she was a former councillor for the area. The Lib Dem councillors know what is going on and work hard all year round.

Hi Mark – unfortunately that's the way SurveyMonkey displays it on the page. Will have a play around with it though and see what I can do. Jess

Lib Dem… they're the only ones campaigning against the incinerator in Splott. Labour are just paying lip service to the campaign and fielding rude and aggressive candidates who don't even live in the area.

Labour have run a brilliant campaign in Radyr that has made the sitting Tory candidate look completely out of touch. Don't be surprised if Labour pull off their biggest swing of the night there.

Please listen to yourselves they have done this and that, they have taken you all for mugs and still are Labour controlled Cardiff for years and that put us in a right state do not forget the reign of R Goodwage and all the money thousands of your money paid to these good old councillors who got your street lamp working and they never give a penny back but the Council will hound you to hell and back for its tax if you are working.
Tories never change hence this Government in Whitehall giving to the rich again and doing the less well off.
And believe you me Labour would had built on Rumney Rec if they had been in power that was put forward on this site to the councillors and asked would they resign if so…not one answered.
Vote for your local independent and give some one fresh a chance otherwise you deserve all you get when the election is over and they retire back to their ivory tower.
YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THIS CITY AND YOUR LIFE BUT THEY DO NOT LIKE YOU KNOWING THAT YOU CAN OUST THEM! AND LIKE SHEEP YOU WILL FOLLOW THEM AGAIN.

I'm a lifetime Labour voter but this time I'm going to vote Lib Dem simply because the local candidates work hard for the people and Labour have run a very negative campaign here in Splott. The fact that they couldn't be bothered to find local candidates to stand says it all.

It is time that the Independants have a chance to show what they can achieve. They are not motivated by party politics, want to look after their Ward and do the best for Cardiff as a whole. Vote for Bob Smith in the Heath Ward – he has the necessary experience in life and as a Councillor.
