Cardiff’s Diamond Jubilee street parties mapped

May 30, 2012 4 Comments »

A street party in Werfa Street, Roath, to celebrate the Royal Wedding last year. The street is holding another street party this year to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The four day jubilee weekend is fast approaching, and people are planning to celebrate the Queen’s 60 year reign – and an extra Bank Holiday – with street parties across Cardiff.

Here we’ve mapped all 57 street parties that have permission from Cardiff Council to close their roads on Saturday June 2, Sunday June 3, Monday June 4 or Tuesday June 5.

If you are involved in organising any of these events, then please get in touch as we would like to organise coverage of your parties over the Bank Holiday weekend.

We have also mapped events that are happening as part of The Big Lunch on Sunday, including a big street party planned for St Mary Street in the City Centre.

If you have a Jubilee event that is not featured here, then please also get in touch and we will add it to the map.

You can get in touch by e-mailing jessica.best@trinitymirror.com, telephoning 02920 243612, Tweeting us @yourCardiff or via our Facebook page.

On the map, road closures are represented by a red line. To find out more information about each street party, click on the place marker. Events planned for Saturday are highlighted with a blue marker, Sunday with a red marker, Monday with green, and Tuesday with yellow.

The full list of street closures provided by Cardiff council is also shown below the map. The authority has also provided information on what to do with your rubbish if you are holding a street party.

Or perhaps splotts inhabitants arent quite so anally wedged as the more officious areas of cardiff, noticing alot of street paries in the wealthier areas. Obviously the fine upstanding citizens of the 9-5 wife and two kids army will be showing their pride of the mother of our nation. Well, the vaguely german woman who takes the same amount from our taxes as cardiff council on its own…..
