Sunday school swaps vestry for sponsored walk and open air service in Roath Park

Roath Park Lake

Members of the Crwys Sunday School, Richmond Road – the youngest of whom are just toddlers – took part in a sponsored walk around Roath Park lake recently in aid of Viva Guatemala!, the Presbyterian Church of Wales’ 2012 appeal.

The appeal is supporting Christian Aid’s work in the country, which despite being a major exporter of coffee and sugar, suffers from problems such as extreme weather conditions and serious poverty.

The 1.2 mile walk was followed by a short open air service led by Crwys minister, Rev Glyn Tudwal Jones and held near the children’s play area.

Over fifty members of the Crwys’ congregation were present.

Rev Jones said: “The sponsored walk and service brought us all together on Sunday to enjoy each other’s company and the chance to worship in the open air.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the Viva Guatemala! appeal too, and it was great to see the younger members of our congregation leading the way.”
