Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery on Whitchurch Road.

The incident happened at around 11.15am on Wednesday August 1, when a 56-year-old man reported he was robbed by two men on the corner of Australia Road and Whitchurch Road.

The robbers stole a substantial amount of money, before running off to the lane behind the Co-Operative store.

The two suspects are described as being in their mid 20s, of slight build, around 5ft 7in tall, and of mixed race appearance.

Detectives investigating the incident have been checking CCTV and speaking with local businesses and residents to trace witnesses, but are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Beth Simmons said: “There would have been many people in this busy area at this time.

“We would ask anyone who witnessed this incident outside St Joseph’s Catholic Social Club or two men running away to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Simmons at Cardiff Central CID on 02920 527420 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
