Two people were treated for minor injuries in Cardiff this afternoon after lightning struck a house in Pontprennau.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to Gateside Close in Pontprennau at 2.24pm after reports that a semi-detached house had been hit by lightning.
A spokeswoman said the lightening strike caused electrical damage and a fire at the house, but this was out by the time fire crews arrived.
The ambulance service said it arrived at 2.50pm, with paramedics treating two casualties at the scene – one for suspected electrocution and the other for hearing damage – but neither required hospital treatment.
Cardiff was hit by torrential rain, thunder and lightning for a short time this afternoon as a storm passed over the city. Further heavy showers are expected into this evening.
