The World War 2 medals were stolen from an elderly gentleman’s home on November 19.

Thieves have stolen a veteran’s World War 2 medals in a burglary in Llanrumney.

South Wales Police are appealing for help from the public in reuniting an elderly gentleman with his medals, which were reported stolen following a break-in at his home in the Countisbury Avenue area of Llanrumney on Monday November 19.

Burglars stole the man’s flat screen television, as well as several World War 2 medals including an Atlantic medal, a Pacific medal and a Victory medal.

Detective Constable Tim Dulson, from Rumney CID, said: “The owner served in the Royal Navy during the war and his medals have a great deal of sentimental value to both him and his family.

“Any information which relates to the burglary or the recovery of the medals will be dealt with in confidence.”

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and bailed pending further enquiries, but anyone with information is asked to contact Rumney CID on 029 2077 4233 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
