Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens has been presented with a picture of his favourite bus to thank him for playing the Cardiff Bus Song on national radio.

The Cardiff-born DJ played the song, which celebrates the wide range of bus routes available in and around Cardiff, on his Radio 1 show after hearing about it through Twitter.

Huw, who presents shows on both BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Cymru, said: “I’ve been using Cardiff Bus since I was a little boy, and the number 25 is my favourite route.

“I think everyone can relate to this song and it got a great reaction on the radio.”

Simon Mohammad, head of service delivery for Cardiff Bus, presented Huw with his very own framed photograph of the Number 25 Bus.

He said: “We have been overwhelmed by the popularity of the Cardiff Bus Song and the icing on the cake was when Huw introduced it live on the radio.”

The Cardiff Bus Song and its accompanying video, created by local brand I Loves the ’Diff, went viral in September and has since gained more than 88,000 views on YouTube.

As part of Cardiff Bus’ build-up to the festive season, The Cardiff Bus Song will be performed live for the first time at 2pm on Friday at the Cardiff Bus Christmas Roadshow on Queen Street in Cardiff City Centre.
